I occasionally get the question “what is grounding and why should I do it?”
Grounding is simply anchoring your energies to the energies of the Divine to keep from being scattered. Why would someone want to ground? To keep from being scattered or overwhelmed. When we are UNgrounded, we are more prone to headaches, confusion, depression and anxiety, among many other stressers.
I find this a simple, yet powerful, grounding technique. And for me I like to follow the K.I.S.S. (keep it simple sweetie) rule 🙂
Feet flat on the floor, close your eyes and take a deep breath. Feel the energy of the Earth flowing up through your feet. Feel this energy, see it as light, flowing throughout your body.
Next feel the energy of the Universe coming in through the top of your head (this is your crown chakra). Feel this Divine energy, see the light, flowing into your body and mixing with the Earth light.
It’s not important what colors you see. Just make sure it’s not muddy or black. If your intent is that only Divine Light will come through your crown chakra and only Earth Light will come through your feet, you will get the Light you need. It may be white and green, or violet and gold. Again, don’t get hung up on the details – this is supposed to be simple.
The first few times you do this, it may take a minute or two. But with practice you can ground yourself with a deep breath visualizing the Light coming in through your feet and crown chakra – and this is good because then you can ground ANYWHERE!
Grounding may need to be done several times a day. I personally ground myself before and after seeing clients and before preparing a meal. I also do it first thing in the morning and just before bed.
It’s good to be grounded, especially for those who are extremely sensitive to the energies of others. If you are one who can go to a shopping mall and become overwhelmed, then grounding is definitely a requirement.
